Wise as Serpents Curriculum
EVALUATION REPORT
Discussion
Staff at A-STOP have set goals which they attempted to meet. The following are the five goals and progress they've made toward them.
Goal 1: Thirty churches in Wisconsin and Minnesota will purchase the training workshop and the Wise as Serpents curriculum for use beginning in the fall of 1998.
Thirty-four churches used the curriculum at some time during the 1998-99 school year.
Goal 2: Two hundred churches in Wisconsin and Minnesota will purchase the training workshop and the Wise as Serpents curriculum for use beginning in the fall of 1999.
As of September 15, 1999, 186 churches purchased the Wise as Serpents curriculum, some of whom used it the previous year, some will use it again in the upcoming year, and some will use it for the first time in the upcoming year. Teachers from 54 churches attended training workshops as of July 1999.
Goal 3: At least 75 percent of teachers will rate the training sessions as a 4 or 5 on a five-point scale.
All teachers gave the training sessions as a whole ratings of four or five on a five-point scale, where 5 represented "Excellent". Nearly 75 percent (72%) gave the training the highest rating.
Goal 4: At least 75 percent of teachers who used the curriculum in 1998 will rate their experience as a 4 or 5 on a five-point scale.
Ninety-one percent of teachers gave the curriculum as a whole a rating of four or five on a five-point scale, where 5 represented "Excellent".
Goal 5: At least 75 percent of confirmands who used the curriculum in 1998 will rate their experience as a 4 or 5 on a five-point scale.
Thirty-seven percent of students rated the course as a four or five, with 82 percent of them rating it a three, four or five. On this questionnaire a rating of 5 represented "Great!". However, because of the informal wording of the question, students may interpret it as asking whether they had fun or enjoyed themselves. This would be a very challenging goal, considering the topic.
On the other hand, when asked whether what they had learned will be helpful to them, 83 percent of students said it will be helpful to them.
