A-STOP awarded a challenge grant
A-STOP was recently awarded a challenge grant by Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL). If A-STOP raises $20,000 in new funds by December 1, 2001, AAL will give A-STOP $20,000.
This grant is for a project to train speaker coordinators and speakers in eight synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. These people will seek to prevent the exploitation of young people by the sex industry by speaking to churches, schools, and community groups within their own synods. A-STOP will work closely with the Women of the ELCA in the eight synods to enroll, train, and support the speaker coordinators and speakers.
Four years ago AAL awarded A-STOP a grant to produce Wise as Serpents, a Christian resource for equipping young people to safely handle the recruitment of the sex industry. This new project to train speakers will augment efforts already underway with young people. Your help is needed to help us reach $20,000!
Please consider a generous donation to A-STOP before December 1, 2001. A-STOP is a 501(c)3 organization.
AAL is a fraternal benefit society based in Appleton, WI. AAL has nearly 1.8 million members who are joined together for insurance, education, and volunteer opportunities. Investment products are offered through AAL affiliates. AAL members are organized into more than 10,000 local volunteer groups called branches. AAL branch member meet regularly to carry out volunteer projects, fund-raising activities, and educational programs.
In 2002 our organization changed its name to Adults Saving Kids. Prior to that we were called A-STOP (Alliance for Speaking Truths On Prostitution), STOP (Speaking Truths On Prostitution), or Grassroots Ministry Alliance.
