What is commercial sexual exploitation? What goes on in the "sex industry"? This course will build students’ awareness of what is really happening based on what is said by survivors of the sex industry and those who work with people caught in the sex industry. Students learn what issues need to be addressed in order to eradicate commercial sexual exploitation. The course seeks to change how people think about and relate to people caught in the sex industry trap.
The eight-week course includes audio and video clips and a booklet of information, plus review questions. Topics covered include: myths about the sex industry; forms of commercial sexual exploitation; and how people are caught and retained in them, and more.
The fee to purchase the course and materials is $50. To rent the materials and take the course the fee is $25 plus postage to return the materials. Use the coupon on page 7 to enroll.
Quote from a graduate of the course:
"Because of taking this course, I am seeing a whole group of people in an entirely new light. I never thought that people in prostitution were victims. I learned that prostitution isn’t a profession; it’s a type of victimization."
