Reader concerned about pornography
Dear Sirs:
I recently was given a copy of the article "Are You Man Enough to Read This?" from the August issue of STOPLight. This really hit home as my wife and I have had a very painful time of it recently over my previous use of pornography. We came independently to most of the points brought out in the article. I had never seen STOP Light before and still haven’t seen a complete issue so I am not exactly sure what it is. I am assuming that it is oriented toward stopping the proliferation of pornography.
I am a man who has become concerned about the proliferation of pornography in America, and the dangers it poses to all women (I myself have three young daughters), not to mention the ghastly way it reflects on men in this country. I am pleased to find that there are in fact organizations of men against pornography, and I would like to help. I am by no means a religious fanatic (or any other kind of fanatic) but I am concerned.
I would appreciate any information you may want to send me. I realize that activist groups without big name appeal must be strapped for funding and men against pornography groups must be near the bottom of that, so I am enclosing a contribution to help cover postage, copying, phone costs, etc.
Sincerely, Charles from New Jersey
Note from Al: Friend, we are on a new frontier. We’re learning together. What insights, resources or programs do you know of that deal with issues of prostitution? Please let us know about them. We welcome your articles, ideas for articles, questions and letters.
